  • Child arrangement orders, child maintenance orders for married and unmarried parties, other issues regarding children following the breakdown of a relationship.
  • Resolving family finances, division of property and assets including financial settlements following the breakdown of a relationship.
  • Emergency court applications for personal protection or to protect finances.
  • Simon Cooper is a qualified family mediator, he can conduct mediation between couples who are seeking to resolve disputes together about finances, children and other issues.

Costs:

We charge on a time basis but can provide fixed costs for uncontested divorce proceedings dependant on the merits of each case (not all cases will be appropriate for this).

Finance and Child arrangement applications will be excluded from any fixed fee and will only be charged on a time basis. In all cases, there is a court fee for the divorce application (currently £612).  We try to deal with this matter collaboratively by agreeing the divorce application with the other party and splitting the court fee equally, but we cannot guarantee this.

With regard to Finance cases, we try to agree a settlement with the other party or their lawyer and to achieve a Consent Order, which is then sealed by a Family judge.  This is to achieve a “clean break” between the parties, and usually in this case the Court application fee is split equally between the parties.

Court fees for Finance Applications are £60 for a Consent Order, and £313 if an Application is made for an order without consent.

For Child arrangement applications the Court fee is £263.

The firm’s charge rates and costs can be discussed in detail at the initial meeting.  Our fee for an initial meeting of 1 hour is £260 plus VAT, but we credit this towards ongoing fees if the firm is instructed.

Fees and prices are as of April 2025 and may change.

We cannot take on legal aid cases.
